Dr Rai was consultant to Apollo hospitals, for three years after which he started his practice in Noida with his wife Dr Sheetal Rai.
Dr Rai is a postgraduate teacher (Associate Professor) and has academic affiliation with prestigious dental college in NCR region where he guides postgraduate students pursuing their M.D.S. degrees.
He is well recognized in his Orthodontic fraternity and is an avid speaker at national and international conferences. He is the founder & secretary of NOIDA ORTHODONTIC STUDY GROUP, recognised by INDIAN ORTHODONTIC SOCIETY (Certifications and Affiliations) Dr Rai is special correspondent in Indian Orthodontic society’s newsletter IOS TIMES, contributing clinical innovations routinely for sharing with orthodontic fraternity. He is life member of Indian Orthodontic Society (certifications and affiliations) . He has been bestowed with best Research award and best Clinical Innovation award in the year 2002. Recently he also won best Scientific paper award from Indian Orthodontic Society at a conference held in Davangere.

Dr Rai was invited as Chairperson for Scientific sessions at AIIMS orthodontic conference and was also an invited Guest Speaker at Indian Orthodontic Society's annual conference, held at Nagpur. Dr Rai was honoured to be chairman of scientific session at recently held Indian orthodontic conference at Bangkok,Thailand.

Dr Rai is a specialist orthodontist and treats over 200 Plus new orthodontic cases every year. He is consultant to prestigious dental clinics in Delhi.
Dr Rai has been actively involved in learning latest treatment techniques through world reknowned faculty and brings all those options for the benefit of his patients. He takes at least three advanced continuing educational courses every year to keep himself abreast with latest techniques. Since last three years Dr. Rai has received extensive training in dental implants . He has taken special training under Dr Charles Babbush (USA), Dr Harold Sussman (PROF, N.Y.U USA), world reknowned faculty in Dental Implantology. He also took MULTISYSTEM training from SDM dental college DHARWAD in dental implants (Special Implants Training).

Dr Rai recently was awarded FELLOWSHIP OF INDIAN SOCIETY OF OSSEOINTEGRATED IMPLANTS after accreditation committees approval of his implant cases, first ever to an orthodontist in Delhi NCR region

He read a scientific paper at of his implant cases at International Congress of Oral Implantologist (ICOI ). His articles are published in peer-reviewed Journal of Academy of Oral Implantology and in Dental Horizon(scientific publications).
